“Don’t be afraid of colors. Colors have been around for centuries. Stay true to your colors and your lifestyle will shine your soul of colors.” ~ Jeffrey Johnson
I’m always looking for unique ways to incorporate more color into our home. I’m typically drawn to everything black and white, so adding pops of color where I can is essential. One way to set the tone for your home is to paint your front door a color other than factory grade white or almond. I know when I see colored doors, they kind of make me smile a bit, and have me curious about their owners. I speculate what their design taste is on the inside, and I’m pretty sure they have unique personalities.
You certainly can paint your door whatever color you like, but did you know that some colors actually have meaning behind them?
A red colored door has historically meant “Welcome!” and has been known as a safe haven for travelers. Homeowners that have red doors are typically very confident and satisfied in their lives. They love attention and entertaining guests.
Another favorite ~ Blue
A blue door represents a homeowner that is pretty traditional. They have an easy going type of personality, and see their home as a place that allows for creativity, imagination, and inspiration. Their home atmosphere is relaxing and represents refuge from the demanding world outside.
My personal favorite ~ Black
Black represents a classic, simple yet consistent aesthetic. Know that upon entering, you are entering a home that seeks order where everything has its place. Black’s timeless appeal makes it my personal favorite and I use it often in my design concepts.
Bright & bold ~ Yellow
Homeowners that use yellow take great pride in their homes. They aren’t afraid to stand out in the world, and their homes represent energy, positivity, & joy.
The classic wood door ~ Brown
Homeowners that have brown wooden doors like structure and stability. They appreciate the feeling of grounding as in the earth’s soil. The home is viewed as their headquarters or foundation where rejuvenation takes place.
