Have you ever looked around your home and thought, This doesn’t feel like me anymore?
One of the most common things I hear from women I work with is a quiet but persistent discomfort with their homes. Not because they’re messy or ugly—but because something feels…off. Stagnant. Heavy. Like a to-do list that never gets done.
That’s the first sign that the energy of your home may be out of alignment with you.
In this episode of the Mind Body Home Podcast, I take a deeper look at what I call Intuitive Interiors—my holistic approach to home design that begins with energy before aesthetics. It’s not about creating Pinterest-worthy perfection. It’s about reconnecting your space to who you are now, and who you’re becoming.
A Client Story: Turning a Bedroom Into a Sanctuary
Recently, I worked with a client whose story has stayed with me. She had moved to a new state, carrying the weight of past trauma and hoping this new home could be a fresh start. Her bedroom felt cold, disconnected, and unsafe—a place she dreaded instead of a place to rest.
Together, we designed her bedroom with intention, focusing on both energetics and aesthetics. Here’s a glimpse of what we created:
We started by placing her bed in the command position—allowing her to see the door while she rested, without being directly aligned with it. We grounded the room with a soft area rug to warm up the tile floors, and selected intentional decor like a nature-inspired bedding set with birds, (did you know birds only sing when they feel safe?).
We limited electronics to reduce nervous system disruption and suggested eliminating overhead fans above the bed, which can create subtle, subconscious stress. Every choice supported one goal: to help her feel safe, nurtured, and empowered in her own space.
Why the Energy of Your Home Matters
When we ignore the subtle messages of our home—things left broken, corners left cluttered, spaces we avoid—we’re ignoring parts of ourselves that need tending.
Because our homes aren’t separate from us. They’re a mirror of our inner world.
That’s the core of Intuitive Interiors. It’s about clearing stagnant energy, repairing what’s broken, and inviting in beauty that’s meaningful to you—not just what’s trending.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, uninspired, or overwhelmed in your home, it might be time to look beyond the surface.
- Start by noticing what feels heavy, outdated, or draining.
- Ask yourself: “What version of me does this space represent? Who am I now?”
- Begin small: clear a drawer, repaint a wall, or rearrange furniture to shift the flow.
When we clear space energetically, we make room for clarity, creativity, and calm.
